About

Perched above the tranquil waters of Savusavu Bay, Daku Resort is a place where time slows, nature leads, and genuine Fijian hospitality is at the heart of everything we do.

Set on 167 acres of lush tropical land on Fiji’s island of Vanua Levu, Daku Resort is not only a peaceful retreat, but a place steeped in history. The land was first purchased in 1878 by the Honourable John Campbell, a Scotsman and merchant based near Sydney, whose trading vessel regularly sailed to Fiji.

Daku Resort entered a new chapter in 2004, when it was purchased by John and Delia Rothnie-Jones who hail from the UK. Having built a home on the land years earlier, they shared a deep affection for Daku and its spirit. Since taking ownership, they have carefully renovated the resort while preserving its character, and expanded its role as a place of learning, creativity, and wellbeing. Study retreats in writing, painting, music, and yoga have become a hallmark of Daku—highlighted by the magnificent hillside yoga shala, the largest custom-built yoga platform in the South Pacific.

Today, Daku Resort is a thriving, boutique retreat, offering a relaxed colonial-style Fijian
atmosphere for retreat guests, couples, families, and independent travelers alike. Locally rooted and warmly personal, we believe true luxury lies in space, serenity, and meaningful connection—to nature, culture, and people.

Whether you’re here to learn, to rest, or simply to enjoy the rhythm of island life, we invite you to experience Fiji as it was meant to be: unhurried, welcoming, and beautifully real.

Welcome to Daku Resort — your island home in Savusavu.
